Sam called me saying, “I think I need your help”. He had a company with 3 engineers, but no office space. He had been let down by a previous employee and needed someone to help with the admin. He handed me a laptop and a pile of papers, saying he didn’t know who had been invoiced and who owed him money. He had limited knowledge of his client’s invoicing/payment procedures and his bookkeeping records were not up to date.
By liaising with the relevant people, either over the telephone or in face to face meetings, I found the procedures that needed to be followed and put them into practice, ensuring that Sam was paid by his clients as promptly as possible. I found Invoices that had not been raised and others than had not been paid or chased. I helped to recover these payments and put systems into place to ensure that this would not happen again once he employed a permanent member of staff.
